our emails are 24kb per email.
that's not too big.
As you said that the server hit 30K messages an hour but on the next list send it took 30 hrs for the same list...any reason why this can occur?
Imail pre-8 queue processing really sucked when it didn't work right. And there was no way to know why, no way to fix it.

Probably. If 7k is your biggest, then first do what Scott said, esp his queue kicker tool, and if they doesn't work, then up to Imail8.
If you have 100+K user list, then Imail isn't the best choice.
