Eric, How can I tell when imail is unable to contact the DNS server? And why would this be true if I can ping the DNS server and consistently use it with NSLOOKUP in a DOS window?
Could it be that a) I am using Windows Server 2000 SP4 -or- b) I am running MS DNS Server on the machine? I could see a problem with the local DNS server but I have specifically asked iMail to use our local Bell DNS server, which would likely be down very little if not at all. Perhaps you would assist me in debugging this issue further as I am apparently not the only one in the forum experiencing this. Cheers! Since Hotmail and almost all other domains have MX records, the A record should never be used with Hotmail, and rarely ever be used with other domains. However, there was a bug in many versions of IMail (pre-8.0, AFAIK), where it would use the A record if the MX record existed but it could not contact any (some?) of the hosts in the MX record.
