None of our 3 different mail servers seem to have any configuration setting for 7-bit mode. Why am I confused? ;)) We are running iMail 8.03 so we are pretty current; it seems to me that if this was really an iMail issue a lot of folks would have it!
The first problem is that a lot of legitimate mail is sent using unencoded 8-bit characters, despite the fact that they are illegal.
However, if you want to say that it *is* a problem to send such E-mail (which some will fairly claim, as the RFCs say it is illegal), then the problem lies with the mail client (as the mail client is violating the RFCs). A mail server (IMail in this case) is designed to route E-mail to its destination, not alter it.
