I can attest to the IMgate solution. I primarily run Windows and Imail with
Declude Junkmail but use IMgate on FreeBSD for MX traffic.

I am not nix savvy by any means but know enough to get the job done. And it
didn't cost me a penny as I recycled an old Dual PII 233Mhz server to run
IMgate. By shutting off the spam at the envelope level it really saves on
horsepower and bandwidth. Heck I even run the KDE gui desktop on it to ease
some file editing chores.

FreeBSD is industry standard software as is Postfix (the underlying mx
engine) IMGate is just a set of config files for postfix that helps you get
started. Len will send them for free and has a list to help also.
