..I am curious to find out how
..McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 7.0
..has been working out for you Douglas?
..Are you still using this method?
Yes and it has been working to my satisfaction.
Since I began this experiment I had VirusScan
configured to move the virus laden files to
the quarantine directory for later review.
I monitored the directory for problems, did not
find any and then ran another VirusScan pass
to double check the files and then delete
the files from the directory.
Yesterday I changed the VirusScan configuration
to delete the virus laden file on the first pass.
I review the logs several times daily.
..If you are, how many mailboxes do you
..protect this way?
Sorry I do not have a mailbox count for you.
..Have you found, that a particular virus or
..worm was not caught on the email server
..but it WAS on the client's machine.
I have not seen this situation nor have
any of my clients mentioned seeing a
virus infection since I started using
VirusScan in this fashion. They would
call me if they saw an incoming virus
laden e-mail message trapped by their
anti-virus software.
I encourage all of my clients to use a
virus scanner on their desktops PCs and
recommend they update the virus definitions
on a daily basis.
..Time to time have you monitored
..CPU utilizations % or Max Memory usage?
Yes I have been monitoring the server
for peak usage.
..Anything worth to mention?
While I have seen some spikes, the
spikes were of very short duration and
nothing to be concerned about.
The average CPU usage is still down around
7 percent and memory usage is well below
max physical memory.
