Jill,

thank you for giving us the "official word".. I'm sure you've noticed the spike in traffic relating to this issue.. Please know that i am not shooting the messenger here, only using your email address to respond to some points you've made..

I understand that the marketplace puts certain demands on companies, and that revenue models and plans are usually developed in-house, based upon the in-house assumptions about the marketplace and clientbase. The biggest danger ANY of us face is the danger of operating in a vacumn. This danger faces us ALL, whether we be IBM, micro$oft, Ipswitch or CUS Business Systems.

Now, as to your recent email:

ICS provides all the tools your business needs to communicate and collaborate efficiently - email, discussion lists, protection from spam and viruses, instant messaging, and when using Microsoft Outlook, shared calendars and global contacts.

While this may provide all the tools we "Need". there are many tolls in here we don't WANT.. (as exhibited in the dozens of emails today on this list)

If you currently hold a Service Agreement for IMail, the terms of that
Service Agreement are still valid, so any updates that are made available
(8.14, 8.15, etc.) will be yours to apply to your IMail server.

Will there be updates which will NOT be made available to our products is we do NOT have ICS ??

However, we will no longer be selling IMail or Ipswitch Instant Messaging as stand-alone products or stand-alone service.

I'm sure you've seen from the emails, that a (potentially) significant portion of your current client base will move on to other solutions in the marketplace based upon this policy.

We realize that this is a big change, but it is one that has been long in
coming. Ipswitch feels confident that ICS is a solution that the market has
been clamoring for.

The marketplace may be clamoring for it, but it doesn't appear your current user base is.

I urge you to consider some sort of middle ground, lest a shrinking client base makes YET ANOTHER micro$oft competitor less relevant in tomorrow's computing world.
