I have head of troubles...I would check out your registry very carefully, 
Unfortunately I am out of the office for the next week.  We have a tool for 
checking IMail registry hives. Contact support for this as I don't have a 
copy here..as of this point I have stopped using the IMail client to 
manipulate mailboxes on the server (other than looking at them, no 
transferring/deleting)

Just checked with my home box from here at the office....No
problems with the client...opened a 60 MB spam folder with no
issues...Check permissions on the registry and file structure

there is definitively some bug in the v8 Imail client.
If you want I can provide a terminal server login to check it out.
Starting the Imail Client, selecting a virtual Host and whatever Mailbox 
you
want: The Client window closes without any further error message.

Unfortunately the v7 Client doesn't work anymore with v8 installed.
The Client was a usefull tool for different administrative works: trace
delivery errors, transfer messages to other mailboxes before deleting it,
