Not really. Perdebatan tentang what is considered as life emang udah rumit as it is, tanpa memasukkan faktor emosi. Pohon punya emosi nggak? Bakteri punya emosi nggak? Mungkin ada yang memperdebatkan hal ini, tapi general consensus kayaknya setuju bahwa mereka nggak punya emosi. Tapi mereka definitely dianggap hidup (lifeform). Kerumitannya bukan dari sisi itu kayaknya.
As of why, ini sih pendapat pribadi. Walaupun gue setuju se-setuju-setujunya akan artificial intelligence sebagai science fact, tapi gue nggak pernah setuju artificial emotion sebagai science fact. It is science fiction and it shall remain science fiction forever and a day. Karena gue suka Star Trek antara lain karena terasa sebagai science fiction yang sangat membumi dan realistis (seakan segala yang ada di sana itu akan terwujud di masa depan kelak), maka adanya emotion chip ini sangat mengganggu buat gue. Yaah, tapi gue nikmatin ajalah apa adanya.
