[spam deleted]
Fred,
The systems administrators at Transarc are, I believe,
well aware of the problem of spam and do have measures
in place to deal with much of it.
One might equally argue that every site that receives
mail from the [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list should
have their own anti-spam measures (we do).
The problem is that even with spam counter measures
on your mail gateway, it is not possible to simply
block every possible spam abuse. Spammers are innovative!
I believe the only 100% bullet-proof way would be to
have a moderator review every posting before "releasing"
to the mailing list. This would cost time, money, effort
and slow down information exchange. Would the moderator
be expected to provide 24 hour service?
Perhaps, we should simply ignore and delete the occasional
spam that gets through.
What did we expect when the information superhighway
became commercial?
