We currently backup our AFS system using DAT autochangers on HP systems.
We're expecting to get rid of nearly all our HP stuff over the next
year or so, and it seems the DAT hardware isn't supported with
SG equipment, which we are getting. In any case, they are very
fiddly and fault-prone, so we'd like to have something better.
(1) We use Legato for other machines. For years there have been
promises that Legato would support AFS, but it doesn't seem
to have materialised. I asked their support for information some
months ago, and they have never got back to me. Is anyone using
Legato to backup AFS? Is the only solution the use of staging
disks?
(2) What other practical solutions are people currently adopting
for backing up AFS? This looks like a promising subject for
including in the FAQ, but it doesn't seem to be in the copy I have.
