Darren gives us a list including:

> Andrew Dutney - Food Sex and Death * * * * * (great stuff to
> raise issues of faith)

I think Dutney is accessible to any reasonably good reader. I lent it to
one of my students whohad grown up in an atheist family and he coped. Mind
you, he also coped with Jurgen Moltmann once he worked out how to understand
biblical references. Note, though, that Dutney's understanding of eternal
life is not orthodox and it likely to upset those who put great store in
being reunited with loved ones after death.

> Sara Maitland - A Big Enough God * *

Maitland is the widow of an English Anglican priest and her initial training
is in journalism rather than theology. Her writing is very accessible. She
writes from a feminist perspective.

> The Basis of Union - Where did the joy come from * * * (this is
> more in the BOU than anything but its still great stuff)

This is actually another Dutney. It is divided into three main parts - Why
does the church exist?; How do we know it is the church? and The Bible and
the Basis of Union. 44 pages plus BoU, with questions for reflection and
discussion. Very worthwhile.
