Hey James, Sorry ive not responded to this line of discussion as yet, i guess the real problem for some of us is that at theological college we're told what is and isnt herecy... unfortunately any attempt to discuss some of this ends up being heretical.
me, well i did my theology and realised that herecy is not a sin against god, its just a sin against the institution that created the rules. i learnt that from jesus :) oh and from the tv... anyhow, i'll be brief on my current line of thought. I go on the theory that God has either given us free-will or God hasnt given us free-will, this is an either-or situation for me. This sets a base line for me, if God hasnt given us free-will, so be it but this means that God can act intependantly from creation to alter, change and effect the world in many ways. If though, God has given us free-will then God's set up a process by which we act not because God is causing us to, but because we are required to as a part of Gods creation. It is God's call on our life to bring God's kingdom here and now on earth. And this is what we pray when we say "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven." This doesnt mean that God does not act, but it means that we are charged, ethically, morally, theologically and spiritually to act as God's representatives on earth. God acts because we act. It is us who act and we act because we have God's call on our lives.
