Certainly some people from across the spectrum will want to survey it and
give a more representative view.
I think however that the survey is inherently flawed, and that it cannot be
completed by some people in a way that gives accuracy to the view held. I
think it was Judy that posted in this way late last week

I also think it is inappropriate to be working outside the councils of the
church on this issue when the various councils are still active. We have
more than one Synod, plus a range of Presbyteries calling for the Assembly
to "seek concurrence". Let's allow the councils to work and only seek to
bypass them if necessary, not just when it suits.

Thirdly, I think that we are heading into the position of a very "worldly"
approach of seeking God's will by majority, or by referendum. From my
perspective, that is not an area that I would like the UCA to head. I think
it quite unlikely that this survey will be used as a sociological study,
rather as evidentiary weight for a discernment of "God's will for the
church." Risky ground!

But the suspicion that a failure to complete the survey will boost the
percentages is very much the reason why I think people and congregations who
choose not to participate should definitely let the RA and the Assembly know
of that decision.
