Hi all,

I have read each of the four Dan Brown books currently
in bookshops. The first two (Angels and Demons and
Da Vinci Code) have provided excellent vehicles for
discussing religious issues with work mates.

I read the Da Vinci Code just after reading the supposedly
non-fiction Bloodline of the Holy Grail. The agreement
between the texts sent me back to some of Barbara Thiering's
books. After this I read some of the texts attempting to
debunk those ideas and was quite disappointed to find
that many of them had not read the texts carefully.

As a general impression there seems little challenge to
either my faith or biblical essentials. The interesting
part is the challenge to Christian traditions and dogmas,
especially those espoused by our Catholic friends.

I feel a bit like someone cleaning down their hard disk
and getting rid of non-essentials. Does it really make any
difference if Jesus was married?
The real question is what are the essentials to keep?

Regards

Hartley Hyde
