Without wanting to appear to answer for Allan (who's doing quite a good job of articulating my own view of god, anyway), I've been reading this thread, and want to chip in:

And I guess the third question is the one that bothers me most. Greg, your reputation on the list is pretty much a pot-stirrer, so my question is, do you really want to know and understand and honour Allan's belief, or are you asking as a prelude to challenging or criticising his belief in some way?
