>From a technical point of view, the Xi products are very nice. Color
correction, gamma support, 24b packed, all make for a nice package, and
the servers are very fast (comparatively). I haven't personally used
the MetroX, because from almost everything I've heard on newsgroups,
emails, and other discussions, XFree86 is at or above the level of MetroX.
The appeal of MetroX is that it supports more cards than XFree86, but
since Xi's products support such a huge card base anyway, and their
products are superior, I always opt for the extra $100 or so and go
with them. Don't *buy* from them tho, you can generally get a better
deal thru Linux Mall or something similar. The upgrade programs are
decent as well, if you own a previous laptop X server, you can upgrade
for much cheaper, or if you have a desktop X server of theirs, you can
also get a discount. The only thing about them that sucks (and I don't
know if this is *still* true, was about a year or so ago) is that their
tech support, when present, is worthless, and their professionalism
when dealing with customers leaves a lot to be desired. I still go with
them, tho, because I personally would rather have an excellent product
and jump thru some hoops rather than get a mediocre product at any time.
Wow, that was long. Sorry for the length. :)
