Yeah THEfog, ps3 has 8 cores but only 7 are dedicated to the software. I firmly believe that multiplattform should be watched over carefully because before games began flying all over different systems we didn't have so many games with untapped potential that would hardly be put to use. I don't know what are your desktop specs but for crysis to run on dx10 with at least 1680x1050 and graphic setting above medium, you have to have some serious number crunching by your side. Oblivion on the other hand is much much lighter when compared to crysis.
@Angelic: At the time I tested nfs:mw I just tried stock drivers without idamt so maybe I'll give it another shot. Btw, carbon worked for me out of the box, with the menus dragging by but the races working at a minimum pace. I'm also with you about God of War, it just rocks, just like Devil May Cry did, and there's not much more praises to it that haven't been said before :) But both ps3 and xbox360 have top of the line gpus, only from older generations, and while xbox has a regular high end ati slapped in, ps3 has a custom gpu there, but anyway neither one of those so called next gen gaming systems really left my jaw dropping, of course in a year or two when developers work with the whole potential of the systems the conversation will be a bit different. What bothers me the most is games on consoles with 30fps. Seriously, what is that? A console is like its own name, dedicated to the single purpose of playing games. And don't tell me they do more now because that's no excuse for them to not step up their game. @Espio: S3TC did have their time, and while playing serious sam and UT99 I had a blast, which always amuses me that back then for serious sam to be played with max settings you had to have a matrox parhelia, or wait a decade for the geforce gtx 4 series to come out ^^. If you compare S3TC with FXT1 and a few of DXTC forms you'll see that there are very small performance steps between them while the texturing itself does worsen quite a bit when on those legacy formats. But yeah gta4 is a bad port from what I heard (havn't ever played > it). Btw dosn't the ps3 have 6 or 8 cores? Not 9. > > THEfog > > On 13/06/2010 12:53 PM, "AngelicTears" <[email protected]> wrote: > > lol, since u are a Xbox360 owner..u should know that S3TC texture outdated > way~~~~ back..lol...i loved to get hands on and next gen console...i respect > PS3 for it's extreme 9 Cores..plus im a God of War fan..and Xbox360 for it's > hardware tansellation and advance graphics and controls...god, one day im > gonna have one of those ... > > On Sun, Jun 13, 2010 at 10:32 AM, Espionage724 <[email protected]> > wrote: > > > I kind of wonde... > > -- > 9xx SOLDIERS SANS FRONTIERS -- 9xx SOLDIERS SANS FRONTIERS
