I agree with you on all fronts :( Celeron was okay, but Atom... (frustrated face here...).
The Neo, IMO, is worse. Specifically the one my HP DV2 shipped with. Not only is it a single core, but unlike the other AMD CPU of the time (maybe that is why they are called Neo?), it's based off of the ancient K8 architecture!! This architecture was retired once the Core 2 Duos came out, c'mon... I know they were decent against the Pentium 4, but that's ancient news, especially with the power draw of the stinking Neo CPU. What's worse? The dual core version is based on the k10 microarchitecture, and is waaaay more than twice as fast. To save a slimey 50usd (promotional price) at the time, I shot myself in the foot with a rebar gun (imagine a nail gun that shoots 3/4" iron rebar...). Okay... maybe I shouldn't send this one out, lol...
