I am happy with Dartware product to some extent. It is still more user friendly than anything I've seen so far. So useful networking features are lacking, but nothing else implemented everything I want in one solution. I'm checking out NAV (Network Administration Visualized) while we are already a Dartware customer. I like IM's concept of maps, but don't like the lack of 'containers' or location of equipment. IM doesn't have any decent layer 2 features, neither it has good graphing, but I'm still not ready to give it up. It does the job and does it pretty well. And plus the lack of support on NAV does not look too attractive.
Dartware, check out that software. They have quite a few useful features that I'm sure everyone would like to see in IM (those two should be combined ;) ) Andrey From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Tim Huffman Sent: Friday, February 08, 2008 10:49 AM To: InterMapper Discussion Subject: RE: [IM-Talk] RE: Setting up Notifications across multiple maps Peter, It's been my experience that Dartware is pretty responsive to their customers. The fact that they have developers that actively read (and more importantly, respond) on their customer discussion mailing list speaks volumes them, as far as I'm concerned. In IM we wanted to setup multiple probes per device for notifications and not only a warning for hardware failures but also for running processes. We also like you made several requests about this. Does anybody have a interim solution ? Our project staff is discussing the use of Intermapper, and suggest we should invest in an other package. My question is, is this something that more people think about, if yes, what is a suggestion for an other program or.... something that Dartware can convince to update the software to the above requirements? Regards and nice weekend ! Actually, I'd like to be able to do lots of things from the device list: Managing/changing notifications, changing probe type, changing poll interval, etc. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't be able to do anything we can do from the individual maps (with the except moving devices around a map, of course). Please consider this a feature request. It would GREATLY enhance Intermapper's ability to manage large numbers of devices... (over 300 routers, switches, servers, etc..) I would like to set up notifications for all these devices, but going to each map (we have over two dozen "host group" maps that we drill down through a main map) is very slow and tedius. I thought by going to the DEVICE LIST, which shows all devices across all maps, and click the Notifier View I could set up the notifiers that way. Unfortunately, when I tried to check off the notifier boxes, it would not work. The Notifier List view in the DEVICE LIST window appears to be read only. Is this a bug, or was it just designed this way? This would be very useful I believe. Does any else have a work-around? Thanks!
