I finally got my damaged board V5 working ! The upgrade process to V5 is ok, but PC cannot connect to the firmware (only bootloader). However Android HelloIOIO-app connects to it, and it does this even with my BT dongle ! So I can start developing and debugging my app using BT dongle and Android device connected with USB cable to PC (USB debugging setting on). My board (also from Seedstudio) is directly powered using 5V pin, as Ytai suggested. The connection to IOIO seems to be the most difficult issue here. I have 2 Android devices (phone and tablet), if you define Bluetooth connection to both devices, be sure to kill the IOIOapp (or unpair Bluetooth) from one device, otherwise it prevents the other device to connect ! Perhaps Ytai could make some diagnostics to the connection software in future versions (why it cannot connected etc.)
My new boards are from AliExpress and still with V3 version. There is something in the firmware upgrade process that damages the VREG in IOIO, perhaps if you have 12V power connected and then connect to PC with USB cable ?
