Unfortunately, unlocking requires jailbreaking. However, you can remove the sim 
card and use it on WiFi, of course (like an iPod touch). If you jailbreak and 
unlock it (be careful with this process; it works, but it is a hassle, and can 
cause big problems if you mess it up), you can use an Orange micro-sim, or sim 
that you have cut down to micro-sim size.
