So you obviously have an ethernet cable from eth0 and your IPMI management port (SYSTEM MEMT) right?
Type "ipmitool -I lan -H 172.30.2.118 -P password chassis power status" again. Then type `arp 172.30.2.118`. Does it at least show the right MAC address? Type `nmap 172.30.2.118`. Are there any other ports used on the BMC?
