You can also try these lan set commands if you have not:
lan set 1 access on
to set up some default channel access settings, and
lan set 1 user
to set up some default user access settings, and if things still aren't working set the IP back to 0 and then re-set it to 172 address.
Also check on the management system for an entry in the arp cache. If nothing there you might need to set one manually or turn on arp generation on the BMC.
