Also which system do you use? Does it support IPMI? In dmesg, you can
see if any of the IPMI interface is initialized while loading the driver
( ipmi_si) with ipmi_msghandler and ipmi_devintf.

Hi,
if you are using Ubuntu, try to type sudo before the ipmitool command. I
had the same problem and this was the solution.
