I think if an Irish fencer qualified for the Olympics for the first time in how many years- 30?- and it was capitalised upon by the Fed, PR wise it could be more useful than spreading the money. Having said that, i wouldn't say no to a hand out! If S. Byrne gets, as you say, �30,000 a year then no matter what time schedule she's on, she can afford to get back for 1 measly comp a year. College is NOT that taxing! She's Irish <isn't she??> , then if she wants to represent us in fencing tournaments (i.e Olympics), she could at least grace us with her presence from time to time.
