How do you mean 'the overall male fencers available'? I think if you look at 
the men who enter tournaments as a fraction of those who are quite active in 
the sport i.e. train regularly its a reasonably good percentage but could 
certainly be improved on.   You might be right that when talking about 
percentages women are better than the men but the turnout is still very low and 
this does have an effect on the tournament.   So what needs to be done? Do 
training regimes need to be changed? Do we need to promote it in a different 
way?
