----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on Irish Fencing Forum
----------------------------------------------------------- From: Eoin Message 5 in Discussion Well i would have thought that beginners were encouraged to enter tournaments. Maybe the female fencers need more encouragement? Or do we need more senior female fencers coming to training so that the beginners don't think its a male dominated sport? Is there are way to change training sessions that would suit female fencers better? I can only speak for UCD but its guys running the training so maybe what we are doing is not how girls would like it to be run. I think there is a bit of difficulty in getting girls to change weapons. Alot of them think sabre is too violent and that epee is too heavy, but then once they do it for a while they stick at it. However the problem is getting them to try the new weapon for a while.Negative reinforcement as practiced by Owen probably doesn't help ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/IrishFencingForum/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
