bq. No, metrics2 is not in CDH, since it's neither compatible with earlier
versions of metrics1 nor is it compatible with the metrics2 in 0.23+.
Will make the change to use metrics.MBeanUtil#registerMBean in that case. I am
assuming that will meet all branches' needs?
