Maybe so. But this is conflicting with the list of high level
requirements JLR published earlier in the thread, I quote:

"
There's definitely a need for email in the car. Non-drivers could
benefit from a traditional email app, where text is inputted via a
virtual keyboard, similar to how one would use a mobile version. The
ultimate solution of course would be one where drivers would use a
combination of Speech-To-Text/Text-To-Speech for interaction with the
email app while driving.

For a PoC, IMAP and POP3 support is needed at a minimum, as well as
support for adding/managing multiple accounts. Pre-set account types
such as Exchange, Gmail, and Yahoo would also be nice in a production
environment. Most email features such as attachments, searching
through mail (voice search?), browsing folders, and conversation
threads are also preferred in an IVI scenario as well. Obviously,
support for push notifications and the like, would do away with the
need for things like a giant sync button, though a manual sync/refresh
would still be nice.

We can talk more about the gritty details, but this should give a
concise overview of what we're looking for in IVI. Thanks for the
support!
"

My take on this is that we have email stacks working well in tablets,
mobile phones etc., I cannot see why they would not work in a car.

Likely all.

Aren't these common issues to any email deployment? Why IVI is special?

Maybe so - I tend to agree, but we have got requirements differing from this.

Just to get this right, are you proposing the development of a new
email sync solution based on the Tizen Watch notification model??

You mean something like Bluetooth MAP, just 'done right'? Have you
checked the MAP spec? Wouldn't it be just more easier implementing
*that* standardized solution - and see how many phone manufacturers
actually take the burden of implementing it... not many.

I wonder how many device manufacturers will then implement this
specific Samsung solution...

So why do you think a niche solution like this would be better in IVI
than a proven, scalable solution like EDS+Camel+MAP?

Well, we do need account configuration. I as a user *want* account
configuration, at least in selecting which of my 3-4 email accounts
should be sync'd with the car, out of which I may have webmail, POP3
and IMAP. I want to configure differently my 2 phones + tablet and my
kids' 4 tablets, too. The model may be nice, but it doesn't seem to be
practical for implementing the IVI use cases.

My notes were indeed just thoughts, and I am sure Srini could address
this topic in more depth.
