Ok,

The patch (http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg03909.html) had no effect on my tuners.

Just to test, I put the second PVR-500 (which I have confirmed as working with the 2.0.43.24054 driver in XP) back in the knoppmyth box with the 2.0.43.24054 firmware. The result is that both of the tuners on this second card have significant distortion--i.e. this card/firmware combo works in Windows, but not in Linux.

So all in all, I have 5 tuners (1 PVR-150, 2 PVR-500) in my Knoppmyth box. Using the exact same cable, I get a clear picture from the PVR-150 and one of the PVR-500 tuners. The other three tuners on the PVR-500s all have a significant amount of static added to the signal. :(

Any other ideas would be welcomed.

John,

I saw your posts at the end of the thread but I wasn't quite sure what you mean by "artifacts"

Well this is difficult to describe as I have disabled the patch a long time ago and I am no video expert! The patch creates a distortion pattern in the video that is constant and channel dependent. Some channels had a very small distortion effect, while others were very bad. With the patch applied both tuners had exactly the same output quality and distortion.

I'm trying to say that.. But for some I believe they did not have this problem.
