Just a guess, but I think you might be OK with Gutsy.  According to
http://www.ubuntugeek.com/howto-upgrade-kernel2622-9-generic-in-feisty-fawn.html
Gutsy is using 2.6.22, which contains the 1.0.x version of the ivtv driver
in the kernel proper (as opposed to a kernel module).

I'm tempted to follow this guide as it essentially downloads the kernel as
opposed to compiling it from the source and trying to figure out how to
properly intertwine the appropriate ivtv driver files.

If it doesn't work/fix the problem, I can always revert back to 2.6.20-16.
