Hi Toon, I havn't read Bert's book and only take a brief look at his downloadble code, but probably you can divide the differences into three categories:
1- Incompatibility - functions that Bert uses have changed over time, so you need an other function (or procedure) name, calling parameters and (rarely) an slightly other way to handle a specific feature. 2- 'normal' JAL stuff that is hidden by Bert's starterpack. Pragma's are one example and the other obvious one are the 'super-includes' Bert uses - one include gives you a lot (all?) libraries available. 3- new features. Like USB and IDE/FAT interface (and many smaller ones). What would be usefull is a document describing what you encounter if you want to port the examples of Bert's book in jallib and on a pic type not supported by the starterpack. So this will be the issue's under 1 and 2. The third category - new features (and the details of each specific device) should be covered the jallib way (html-doc, examples, blog etc). If only there was somebody that would create a guide 'from starterpack to jallib' ;) ;) (Maybe we can do this together: If you provide me with certain examples of Bert, I can adapt them to run under jallib and - if neseccary - explain why I changed things.Then you can create the guide itself...)
