Funny,
I got apache/jserv up and running on a FreeBSD 3.3 box in a total of less
than 1-2 man days, including the installation of a JVM, the JSDK2.0 and all
other related files. I must admit that Jserv could have a cleaner install, but
as far as installing software, I have had to work much harder to get things
working on commercial applications that costs 10's of thousands of dollars.
For being Free, I cannot complain about Jserv in the least, or Apache, they are
wonderful pieces of software, and I can tell you from first hand experience,
Jserve seems to perform as well, if not, better on a FreeBSD box with an intel
that JRUN does on a Ultrasparc, at least as far as throughput.
I do wish Jserv would support JSDK2.1, but since Tomcat does that, I am not
holding my breath for that release.
