>From the Java3D website I found a company called MathEngine under the API in
Action section.  They have an SDK that looks like it does particles.  They
even have a couple of demos for smoke specifically.  Here's their URL is any
else is interested, http://www.mathengine.com.  It looks like it is
implemented in C/C++ but there is a Java interface also.  I haven't got into
the SDK too heavily but maybe it will help some others on the list.  Thanks
