Hi guys. I've seen a bunch of postings on the same
topic, but I wanted to know what personal experiences
people are having using 3d cards and Java3d.
I mean, does it really make a difference in rendering
performance? I'm also concerned with the compatibility
of various 3d cards and Java3d. Right now, with an ATI
RAGE PRO which I believe uses OpenGL software
acceleration I am getting 3fps in my app. However, the
computer is a 450Mhz PII with 256MB RAM, so will
adding a powerful card like the GeForce 256 or TNT2
Ultra really give me a performance boost? I haven't
heard much on the compatibility and/or performance of
these boards in regards to Java3d. BTW I am running
WIN NT SP3.
Any feedback on this (especially on what type of
configuration you are using) would be most
appreciated. Sorry to bug everyone with this most
frequently asked question, but I want to be sure what
to get because the performance I'm getting now make me
feel like pulling my hair out. Please advise me.
Thanks a bunch.
