Java 3D Sound and JMF both use the same sound rendering technology, so their limitations should be the same. My advice is to evaluate your sound needs and use the one that best fits. It boils down to whether or not you need 3D spacialized sound. The other option is the JavaSound API that is now shipped as part of the JDK.
