Hello John & Scott,
Sorry, about the previous large attachments. I did not mean to do that. These are the links to the same files: (1) http://www.cee.hw.ac.uk/~ceetm2/Java3D/chrysler.3ds (2) http://www.cee.hw.ac.uk/~ceetm2/Java3D/chrysler.wrl I downloaded the "chrysler.3ds" file from a website. Now, I am able to load this file in the SpinFire 3DS Viewer and view it fine. There seems to be no Images (nothing in the zip file that I downloaded) and everything is ok. From this viewer I also exported the same 3DS file as a VRML97 file "chrysler.wrl". I tried loading this "chrysler.wrl" file in my Java3D scene and it works fine, I can see the object (the VRML file does not have any texture or images in it). Then I tried to load the "chrysler.3ds" file using Starfire's Loader3DS. This is the error that I get on my Control Panel. Loader3DS Version 2.00 Texture path= h:\java3d\cad\ ChunkID = 4d4d Length: 195229 Error loading Image h:\java3d\cad\bricks red c Error loading Image h:\java3d\cad\shingles2.jp Error loading Image h:\java3d\cad\bricks red f Error loading Image h:\java3d\cad\bricks red s ChunkID = 0 Length: 0 Maybe I am not understanding someting here, because I dont have 3DStudio Max with me (I just have the viewer). I never worked with CAD before. So, please help me understand if I am missing something. Thanking you, Tina > You mention that our loader is giving an error on trying to load the > textures. What format are the texture files (JPG? GIF?)? Or perhaps > are you missing the texture files? A common problem we've heard from > users is people trying to view "invisible" objects (i.e. we don't create > any Shape3Ds that don't have an associated material).
