I would like to take a moment to wonder why Jaav3D seems to be losing
support from Sun... or atleast why support is being directed to other
projects. I can only imagine it is because Java3D has not become as
popular as they had hoped.

IF that is the reason... then all I can wonder is WHY DIDNT JAVA3D GET
RELEASED FOR THE MAC??????

It is NOT the case that there are THAT many macs in the commercial space.
BUT, it IS the case that there are LOTS of macs in the educational space.
And being able to write a cross platform 3D app is a TREMENDOUS
accomplishment, in general. AND a valuable one. And Mac support is what
(in my oppinion) has stopped Java3D from gaining critical mass.

Java3D would have caught on like wildfire.
Would have.
