(snip, snip)
Very good news.
. We also want the expert group to help define the next major revision (1.5? 2.0?) to the Java 3D API, which could involve more widespread changes to the API.
I want to join the group!!!!!!!!
Well, may be we could manage to put inside some code from J3d.org (assuming Justin couch and Alan Hudson agree) (for example particles, from Daniel Selman, terrain following, overlays, non photo realitic rendering and shaders) and I have also some offers to do (human animation, devices, JMF integration, utils, networking also I need to update all this code first).
Why not also bundling boolean operations (recently on this list), lens flares, viewpoints (and camera paths), AI and robots support (for MMORPG or serious robot control).
And also upgrading sound classes, provide new bounds methods (interestion, complex bounds...), alternate renderings (non realtime or why not as plugins) and some more methods for lights (intensity like in the mobile3D api), computation of volumes, surfaces of polygons.
Also on my "definately something needed in a way or another": kinematics, a behavior repository, a loader repository, a "proto" repository, an editor (for example updating the one at netbeans), l-systems support, and may be volume rendering.
I think this should be called 2.0 ;)
No sir, I am not excited at all.
