We are actively working on staging Java 3D for
community source. This include coming up with a licensing
scheme that will encourage the continue community development
effort of a standard Java 3D version. Please share your thought
with us. We're reading.

Hello

Why there is no any activity?

Well,... 2/3 have holidays. The rest waits for the j3d-sources and makes plans what parts to hack first.

First, here are wishes for happy and contented
holidays for all those having them to celebrate.

Second, the latter point raises the question of future
hack-management. Do you suppose JAVA3D-INTEREST will
be the hub for hacking information? Do you suppose
special-interest hack groups will form up on
SourceForge? What do you suppose Sun's
expectations/attitude/behavior will be to hacks? Do
you suppose that X3D's headstart will squeeze out
other interests. Are there any significant interests
competing with Sun's or X3D? Is there anything we
should be discussing here that could help the
developer community later?

AFAIC, the development and proliferation of Java 3D
applications has suffered from the standards FUD, and
proliferation of hacks is going to be no improvement -
just different FUDs.

Personally, I hope some notion of a 'standard' version
is maintained.
