At the risk of opening myself up to accusations of being a 'freetard,'* the license of a project does help determine whether or not I take a look at it, and it definitely affects whether I use it or not (since the vast majority of my stuff at the moment is under the GPL).
*On another note, is anyone else completely unable to seriously use that word thanks to This Ain't Your Dad's Java? They use it every other sentence, and by the end of a podcast it loses all meaning.
