In the case of AWT. This has stuck to the lowest common denominator of all supported platforms. Do you think it would be workable to have some native implementations of features which were lacking in one or another client platform as part of the Java installation to help create a richer set of common supported features? I suppose Swing is the more extreme case of just not bothering using any native components.
