My mistake - error in translation. :-) You're right. Popular is not the right term in this case. Java *is* popular indeed.
I meant less popular in the sense that people would like it less than before. Hence be less appreciated, considered even more the "new C", less used, less supported, etc... And just because of bad PR if you ask me. But that's all my personal opinion of course...
