Yes.. I have encountered the same cracking sounds when I arrow around, or even type to an extent. furthermore, the responsiveness really decreases while the cracking noise comes about. to explain the noise for those who aren't familiar.. Its like your at a camp fire, or sitting near your fireplace, and jaws makes a crackling sound like a fire.

When does this Eloquence issue arise?
I'm using JAWS 9.0.399 and XP, without a problem.

I haven't been following this thread closely, because I don't have VISTA.
Is Eloquence in XP affected in any way with the final release of JAWS 9?
I haven't noticed any difference, using the beta version.

Eric,

in my opinion you should have never let it ship that way. I'm very
picky
about how things sound and think it sounds terrible. I have talked with
others and they feel the same way as I do. Now Jaws eloquence sounds as
bad
as it does on window eyes in my opinion. I don't use eloquence with
window
eyes and if Jaws 9 ships like you say it will then perhaps I'll stop
using
jaws until the problem is resolved.

Thanks,

Rick

Rick,
This has not changed further than it is in build 467. This is something
we
will continue to work on but in the meantime, for anyone who finds it to
be
an issue, we will have them use the 8.0 Eloquence Driver in Vista. I have
heard the problem you've described but on all the systems in the office
we
have tested, the problem has not been very bad. The increased
responsiveness
seems to have far out weighed any down side which is why we put it in the
release at this point.

For anyone that is experiencing the issue, it is a quick change to put it
back as you know and we will have a TSN posted.
Regards,
Eric

Yes they offered a downgrade to eloquence for jaws 8 to fix it. I'm
hopeful they'll fix it for the final release though.

I haven't had that degree of problems with Eloquence and JAWS 9.0.467;
perhaps if FS can't fix the problem they should offer a downgradeable
version?

Eloquence sounds like crap now with the rice crispies effect. I'll take
some slowness which I didn't have on my machine over the constant
crackling.
FS is aware of this problem but dosent' know if it will be resolved in
the
jaws 9 final or not. I for one will not be pleased if it's not fixed.

Hi,

JAWS 8.0.2173 (The last JAWS 8.0 release) works with Windows Vista Home
Premium. If possible, I'd recommend upgrading to JAWS 9.0 once the
final
release comes out...Eloquence is a lot more responsive, and a lot of
problems have been fixed.

This subject has probably discussed several times.
But I will ask once more.
Does jaws 8 and vista home premium work well together?
I just bought a lap top with vista home premium on it.
Thanks very much.
