Hi Vicki,

You were given many alternatives for writing accented characters. To suggest
another I think it may be easier to you if you usually type using the U.S.
English keyboard layout, is to switch to the US International keyboard layout,
which is available by default along to the standard English one in English
Windows installations. When you switch to this layout (you can easily switch
between configured layouts by pressing ALT+SHIFT or, in Windows 8 and latter,
also WINDOWS+SPACE), the ALT key just right to the SPACEBAR is turned into
AltGr, which allows you to enter other characters when holding down this key
and pressing other letters or numbers.
For acute accents, for example, this layout allows you to enter then by
pressing RIGHT ALT+the letter you want.

Adding the Spanish from Spain keyboard layout (you don't need to install the
display language pack too) as suggested by Humberto Rodríguez seems me a more
convenient alternative, as this layout have acute accent key on the position
U.S. English have apostrophe and grave accent in position of the left bracket,
whereas dieresis vowels can be obtained by SHIFT+ACUTE and circumflex accents
with SHIFT+GRAVE; once you press the accent type you want when using the
Spanish layout, release all the keys and press the letter for which you want
the accent you just pressed. I don't know if this method is convenient to you
if you usually write in English because I use the Spanish layout even for
English, but it's an additional suggestion to test anyway.

Hope it helps!

Subject: [JAWS-Users] adding accent marks with JAWS

Is there a way to have JAWS automatically add accent marks in a foreign
language word when writing in English?

For example, if I were to write the name Therese which is a French name but I
am writing the document in English, can the correct accent marks be either
added or automatically set to add any time I write the name?

If I need to add them manually, how can I locate them on the keyboard? Not all
of them are on the standard typing keyboard.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks.

Vicki
