Fred, Not a direct answer, but the method you use makes me concerned that private information is being disclosed about both you and the person you send the item to. Instead, I make a link of the webpage with alt-d, copy it with control-c, then paste it in an email that I send directly to the person.

Are you talking about sending a link via e-mail? If so, this should open whatever e-mail client you are using. This works fine for me with Windows 10, Firefox ESR 52 and MS Outlook 2010. They all play nice together. Maybe check your applications in your browser. You should have one for "e-mail.
