Interesting, because in Outlook 2010 I have the same experience as Maria. I can get the name spelled, but I can't go through it with arrow keys. No matter. The workaround is simple enough.

That's a problem when you have the long "From" lines that come with list messages. Instead, set up a reply to the message and arrow down to the "From" line. Then you'll be able to go letter by letter.
