I remember "seeing" something about that. However, since this was found on my defender program, I wanted to find out for sure. Also, according to defender, there is a quarantined trojan and the following message is displayed:

Trojan: Win 32 /dittertag.b severe with todays date.

Now, I can arrow to the right of this message and there are two buttons: a restore and a remove button. Any ideas? I do not want to do anything to harm my laptop; old as it is. Thanks for yours and Judys help.

Yes, these are most often a fishing message. You call the number and they pretend to be Microsoft support. They get you to let them into your machine, then lock it down and charge you a fee to fix it.
It is a scam.

I would get a second opinion on that.

Follow Up on the previous message. I found out how to get the information.
It was in Windows Defender. Now, my question has changed. How do I quarantine a virus in Defender? Thanks.

Morning all.
Using Jaws 2018 and Windows 10 on a dell laptop, has anyone ever gotten a message from “Microsoft” stating something about a virus? The voice on the message was feminine, and British. And it gave a toll free number to call, or it will disable my laptop. It said something about sending my information to an unknown IP address. Unfortunately, mornings for us are at best hectic and I was not able to determine whether it was credible or not. I also would like to know of there is a way to get previous notifications regarding issues such as this. Thanks in advance Jerry For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit:
