The list of "minor glitches" I had with Vista (On a brand new machine)
Constant JAWS 9.0 installition failure. Program would install, but not boot up after install. Gave up after at least 10 attempts. External hardware failures too numberous to mention here, such as not reconizing external drives, modems, my pac-mate, memory sticks and so on. CD/DVD drive failures, both internal and external, all on a brand new machine. Replaced existing copy of Vista several times. Same malfunctions persisted with replacement copies. All of this on a brand spanking new dual core powerhouse. Finally gave up, and reverted back to XP SP3. All afornentioned problens went away, and did not return. So for now, I'm sticking with XP. -------------------------------------------------- From: "First CRC Tom Vos" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, July 24, 2008 7:08 AM To: <[email protected]> Subject: [JAWS-Users] RE I have a new laptop > I can understand that you might want to drop Vista if you have had that > many problems, but not all of us have those kind of issues with Vista. > It's a new OS and It's not surprising that some of us have issues and > that we run into glitches. > But I wouldn't throw out Vista because of minor problems, and I think I > heard that is where this original thread started. > Vista requires some time to learn, as does Office 2007, but unless Vista > gets scrapped, we are all going to have to deal with it in the years > ahead. > So my recommendation is that we make a distinction between major problems > and the minor glitches, > Distinguish between problems that make Vista useless and those that need > to patiently follow the learning curve. > Blessings, > Tom > > Message: 3 > Date: Thu, 24 Jul 2008 05:13:52 -0700 > From: "David Finley" < > [EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] I have a new laptop > To: < > [email protected]> > Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset=iso-8859-1; > reply-type=original > > Hi, Andrew. > > Dave here. > > Personally, my expirences with Windows Vista have been absolutely horrid, > > mostly with program incompatibility issues, and hardware just not working > > with it.
