I have been using JAWS since version 3.7, and have never had CONTROL-ALT-J or any other hot key bring up JAWS unless I set it up myself. And whenever I install a new version of JAWS, and if I choose to keep the previous version, I always go into the properties for the shortcut for that version and delete the hot key. Perhaps you are thinking of Window Eyes, which installs the hot key CONTROL-ALT-W automatically. In this situation, there is no danger of competing versions because Window Eyes installs new versions over old ones unless you choose to install to a different directory. Andy
